What About Love?

There’s a nation,
In a tricky situation,
Thanks to the King’s abdication.
Now a Jester sings while the doorbell rings for a priest.
Something’s missing,
But nobody is listening,
Nothing’s holding up the ceiling,
And they’re selling junk to some punk tryna barter for freedom.
And what about love? What about getting through the night?
What about holding each other tight?
What about learning about what’s wrong and right and left and
What about love? It’s the only thing you can steal
From the ever turning wheel
What about learning about your day and night and life and…
Life was simpler,
When she was a stranger,
Now the play area spells danger,
Now the ships and docks have been cordoned off from the sea.
She’s a wanderer,
But she’s getting stronger,
The dark scares her no longer,
And the man at home in his long black coat isn’t real.
Now I cry,
In a city lost in time,
Trying to compose my rhyme,
Wondering if it’s a crime,
To live but not be alive,
Just my shadow by my side,
Take me into the tide,
Like the catcher in the Rye,
Under bright blue sapphire skies,
And the coronated Queen makes the pastures green again.
